Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any special skills to volunteer?
No. While some roles benefit from technical or research skills, many ways to help require nothing more than a phone, a social media account, or a willingness to show up. Everyone can contribute something.
Is this legal?
Yes. All activities are conducted on public property, at public meetings, and using publicly available information. Volunteers are trained to operate within legal boundaries at all times. We document public officials doing public work in public spaces — that's protected activity.
Do I have to show my face or use my real name?
Not necessarily. Many roles are entirely behind the scenes. If you submit a Tyrant Report or agree to an on-camera interview, we can discuss anonymity options depending on the situation.
How much time do I need to commit?
It depends on the role. Some positions are flexible and can be done in spare time. Others may require availability on short notice for local assignments. You decide how much you can give.
What equipment do I need?
Most roles require only a computer or smartphone. Field roles require reliable transportation. Signal Operators may need to invest in radio equipment — details provided after vetting.
How do I know this isn't a scam or fed operation?
We vet everyone who applies — and that includes protecting ourselves. Our track record is public. Our content is public. Our mission is transparency and accountability. We have nothing to hide.
What happens after I apply?
You'll receive a response letting you know if you've been approved to move forward. Approved volunteers receive access to private briefings and communications channels where operational details are shared.
Can I volunteer if I live outside the United States?
Yes, for remote roles. SIGINT, OSINT, and some RECON functions can be performed from anywhere. Field Ops requires physical presence at U.S. locations.
I'm a lawyer / video editor / graphic designer / writer. Can I help?
Absolutely. We need professionals who can donate skills. Indicate your profession on the intake form and we'll reach out about specific needs.
What if I just want to support but not formally volunteer?
You can still make a huge impact. Share content, engage on social media, send tips, and donate. Every bit helps the mission.
I experienced a rights violation. What do I do?
Submit a Tyrant Report through our secure form. Include as much detail as possible: what happened, when, where, who was involved, and any documentation you have. We review every submission.
How do I submit a tip about something happening in my area?
Use the Tyrant Report form or reach out through our official social media channels. If it's time-sensitive, say so and we'll prioritize review.
